A workplace larp about policy, privacy, and the corporate management of sexuality

Last Item on the Agenda is a short live-action roleplaying game about a workplace meeting where everyone knows there is one difficult issue waiting at the end of the agenda.

Players take on roles within an organization and move through the ordinary rituals of meeting culture: updates, reports, politeness, and side concerns. Underneath it all is the last item: the unresolved questions of sexuality that everyone is circling but no one quite wants to face.

How does an organization manage the sexuality of clients as part of the job? How does it handle live-in staff who have a right to privacy, intimacy, and a personal life?

The game is about unsolvable problems inside the corporate management of sexuality in group homes for multiply disabled adults. It can be funny, uncomfortable, revealing, and very recognizable to anyone who has spent time in institutional life.

Last Item on the Agenda won the 2017 Civic Games skill-building category and is useful as both a playable larp and a training tool for groups interested in facilitation, conflict, organizational culture, care work, policy, and difficult conversations.

The game works through the familiar structure of a meeting. Players use politeness, procedure, delay, concern, discomfort, and institutional language to approach a subject that cannot be neatly resolved by policy alone.
